| What we do and Why we do it What we do If you are one of the people who has decided to leave the city "rat race" and move to the peace and quiet of the rural countryside - well, you are not alone. However, the major question is: where do I move? Then there are a lot of other questions, none of them less important: how close is a hospital, is there a school nearby, do I like it hot or cold, rainy or not, is wind a major problem? Would I like to have a body of water nearby? Mountains or forests? Sand dunes or prairies? Am I into hiking and mountain biking? (in which case trail access is a must). Would I like to have some horses and in that case, would there be any open spaces or trails to ride? How about owning some cattle? Growing my own food? Going off the grid? Is hunting something I would like to do or do I absolutely hate the thought of it and want to live in a place that allows none? What if I buy a lot of land and a home in a development and all I see and hear all day long are loud people on their ATVs? If I work from home, what amenities do I need? A nearby post-office? High-speed Internet a must? How about an airport close by? These are only some of the questions to answer before buying your piece of paradise. Our country is beautiful but it is also huge. Unless you have travelled a lot, chances are most of it is unknown to you. You might decide on one location without even thinking about the other possibilities. You might also buy a place without even asking some or all of the above questions! It is also expensive to do the research. One can easily fall prey to a romantic dream of a forest getaway, without thinking of all the details that can make life sweet (or turn it sour quickly). Think of that local realtor you are going to be working with - whose interests do they have in mind? Are you just going to be a "hit and run" or are you going to be lucky enough to deal with someone honest?Do not leave anything to luck!
